Meet Lilia Ensemble

Lilia Ensemble was formed in 2021, out of a love of early and eclectic music and the joy that comes from blending a trio of voices. Elizabeth Laughton, Soo Bin Kwon and Rebecca Russell balance professional singing careers with day jobs ranging from education to science to law. Blending their different areas of expertise, they delight in finding opportunities to share both familiar and lesser heard pieces, in a wide variety of styles.

Upcoming Performances

Featured Performers: Jouyssance MadriGALS

Joined by L.A. Camerata (Dr. Marylin Winkle, Artistic Director), Jouyssance performs music by women composers, ranging from Byzantium's Kassia to the early Baroque's Barbara Strozzi and Isabella Leonarda.  The program will include madrigals by Maddalena Casulana, pictured above, who was the first woman to have her music published in her lifetime. The concert will also feature grand motets by Chiara Maria Cozzolani, as well as more intimate works by Raphaella and Vittoria Aleotti.  Most of the composers on the program spent their lives in convents, working behind cloister walls, with their music only recently becoming known and available.
